Thanks to a growing interest in automation and the further integration of the web into our daily lives, the tech industry has seen massive growth in the past couple of year. It seems like all of the world’s brightest individuals are migrating to silicon valley to launch the next Facebook or Amazon. All of this innovation and opportunity are creating jobs.
Job Growth
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that roughly 557,100 new jobs will be created in tech before 2020. Many of these new jobs are being filled by millennial workers who have been exposed to computers and technology almost their entire lives.
Jobs With Most Growth in Industry
As the entire world seeks to embrace sustainable energy, it’s no surprise that there is a large emphasis on solar technology. Studies have shown that up to 1.4 million US households have solar panels already installed. Experts claim that the number of installations is poised to triple in the next 5 years. Salary & Wages
Working in the tech industry has proven to be very lucrative. The median annual wage for computer and information technology occupations was $84,580 in May 2017, which was higher than the median annual wage for all occupations of $37,690. The higher paying jobs within the industry usually require a Master’s degree (typically a Master’s in Computer & Information Systems). The mean annual salary of professionals with a Master’s in CIS was $141,000 according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
